Flintshire County Council are proposing to close John Summers High School due to under subscribing and empty desks, not only are they proposing this closure but they are also proposing to scrap free bus travel. The thing is the school is down by 15 students and the LEA have their findings on low birth rates and the fact is that the birth rates for Deeside is growing, we have a developement of 650+ houses being built on the old RAF camp in Sealand. JSH sits inside the boundaries of the Higher Shotton Estate and this estate is 83rd on the Wales Index of Multiple Deprivation and has the highest amount of deprivation out of the five areas of deprivation in Flintishire. The School has a community campus attached that houses Communities First, Library, Higher Shotton Credit Union, Higher Shotton Food Co-op amongst other institutions that use the building regularily. We have the first Mini-Moto Project in Wales that has been set up and will run from the community campus by local residents that live on the Higher Shotton Estate. How can people sit back and let this happen? How can FCC justify in closing a school in an area of multiple deprivation causing more hardship for the residents that live on the estate? I say S.O.S Save Our School - John Summers High. Please Sign my Petition and Thank you!

This is absolute madness. They build all these houses but want to get rid of the only school that serves the actual families living here. Leave our school alone!
