Although i am not a manea resident anymore,I still have family that live in the village.I feel it would be a great shame to loose the fire service based at Manea, not just for manea residents but also the wider community.so I am signing this petition to show my support in trying to save it.

This is an essential service provided by highly dedicated volunteers. If Kimbolton closes, the nearest alternatives are at least 11 miles away which could prove to be disasterous. My husband served as a retained firefighter in Kimbolton for more than 11 years and forged many long term friendships with those who were prepared to give up some of their free time to help others. The proposed closure of Manea Fire Station would leave a large area of our part of the Fens far too short of cover. The Manea crew can get to some of the more remote areas much more quickly than waiting for an appliance from March or Chatters, and of course Manea can provide cover when the other stations are already out at an incident. Closure of smaller Fire Stations generally and Manea in particular leave me wondering if the Fire and Rescue Service really know much about the area they purport to serve.
