Direct quote from the Council website.... ‘Watford Borough Council is committed to providing quality leisure and sporting facilities for the local community’. Presumably this statement now needs the additional words.... ‘indoor bowls excluded’.

It''s a great club for the older generation and also a good form of excise it helped me to get through a serious illness. I have been member for 10 years. It is important this club should not close as it keeps us all active.

Another council proposal to cut local facilities, and penalize the older members of society.

My mum’s been a member for a number of years. It’s her only social activity and she has made some great friends there. It would be so sad for her to lose this club .

I have been a member at this club for 9 years. It is a friendly easily accessible club. Lovely atmosphere among everyone I will have to give up bowls which is my only hobby if this club closes

The council do not care about the older generation all that's matters to them is making money I have been a member at wood side bowls for over 12years it is the best bowls club for miles around and a great social place if the club shuts theres nothing for the retired people to do the club must say open what the council want to do is only for the younger people

The council say they care for the community. But yet they want to close a place where the older generation get their excise on a day basis and have an extended family in the Bowls community.

I think it is disgraceful that the Council has increased the rent to this outrageous level.

This is a vital part of the community for both old and young. It gives people, especially those on their own vital social contact and well as exercise both physically and mentally.

there aren't many places that the older generation can feel welcome, keep their fitness levels up and use their brains which is surely a good thing for the community that they are not relying on social services for company and care.

Too many of the local Bowls clubs are being targeted. They talk about encouraging the elderly to excercise then start closing places where they can enjoy themselves!

The replacement facilities are only suitable for younger people, and nearly all our members are retired and need the bowling facility.

Do not forget the older generation. We need activities during the winter months in particular. You councillors will get to retirement age eventually !!
