This is not our nearest indoor club but we choose to be members at Watford, Woodside as it is a very friendly and well run club, vital for exercise and social interaction for its members. Save this club!

Bowls is a sport that the elderly can play and by taking away this facility it will have a serious effect on many.

As a bowls player for many years, I know how important it is for so many people who see bowls clubs not only a way to get much needed exercise but also as a social lifeline. Often, meeting fellow bowlers is the only means by which some of these people get to see and know other people in similar situations. I wholeheartedly support the continuation of Watford indoor bowls.

My mother Sylvia stebbeds was a founder member who put money in to start this bowling facility along with many many others if watford lost this facility there would be a lot of older members of the watford community who would be unable to bowl, due to the lack of another bowling club having the capacity to accommodate 300 bowlers , a lot of people who are no longer with us , put a lot of hard work to facilitate this bowling club is watford council being heavy handed towards older residents and want the land for other activities ? And are they discriminating against the older generation it provides friendship, well being exercise and stops a lot of elderlypeople hope getting depressed in the dark winter months which is proved to help older people’s well being please think long and hard about the affects if you terminate this club thank you

This club serves both the elderly and younger people from the local and outlying communities as too many of the other indoor clubs have been forced to close

We now know that keeping up social interaction and moderate exercise are vital for the mental and physical health of older people. Indoor bowls provides these requirements year-round. If this club closes, access to both of these necessities will be gone for a lot of people. Other clubs locally (and there are not many other indoor clubs) do not have the capacity to absorb all the members of this club. Many current members will have no option but to give up their hobby and lose a significant part of their social interaction as a result of this closure if it goes ahead.
