They actually listened and the ward is staying open which honestly feels surreal after those frantic meetings. I am still processing the fact that we pulled this off but keep your eyes peeled because we need to make sure they stick to their word on the funding.

I really need people to grab their phones and send this link to their contacts because the hospital is actually paying attention to the count now and hitting that next big number might be the only way to get a meeting. My kitchen table is covered in papers and my coffee is cold but I just keep hitting refresh and thinking about how every single person who signs puts that ward in a safer position than it was ten minutes ago.

I fully support Lorely Burt in trying to save Deminia ward 10. I am a carer to my long term partner who has demtia and it is vital to retain this ward with specialist staff locally, this illness affects many elderly people and expect them to travel for specialist dementia treatment is unacceptable.

I am the Ward 10 social worker and if it is closed it will be a very sad day for the people of Solihull. It offers expertise in Dementia care, is a safe, informal and warm therapeutic environment for patients with Dementia.

while acute care may be better centralised in centres of excellence end of life care needs to be ditributed close to where people live to enable frequent visits from friends and relatives

When there's so much perceived need, it would be crazy to close the ward down. Its needed, and in Solihull, not Heartlands where it will be very difficult to visit if the 73 bus service should stop, as Centro proposed.

Twice Ward 10 cared for my mother, and quite bluntly without their loving care my mother would not be with us today.I feel most strongly that it would be a massive failing in elderly care if ward 10 were to close

As a nurse who regularly looks after patients I cannot emphasise enough how I important these specialised wards are. By closing you are adding pressure to other areas that are full to breaking point or that have not got the experienced staff to cope with their condition.
