It is vital that this ward is kept open, so little is also being done for the carers of sufferers so little respite care is available, many carers suffer with ill health becauce of their partners or family members it is shameful. Allowing Dementia/Altzimer sufferers to be treated at home would just cause extra costs to the health system for the carers. I fully understand that Hospital wards are not Nursing Homes, but if patients are sent to hospital for their complaint, there should be a ward available. Mixing the Stroke Ward with Dementia Altzimer patients as was originally suggested would be harmful and stressful for those suffering with Strokes.

This is a vital service, one that will be needed increasingly as the population ages. Please continue to campaign for a properservice with proper facilities and, most importantly, appropriate funding!

I fully support Lorely Burt in trying to save Deminia ward 10. I am a carer to my long term partner who has demtia and it is vital to retain this ward with specialist staff locally, this illness affects many elderly people and expect them to travel for specialist dementia treatment is unacceptable.
save ward 10
