This is complete and utter lunacy, and it's time for the lawmakers to get an education on animal behavior!! Judge the deed, not the breed. To take the testimony of one individual is also not a fair decision maker. Walter is a friendly dog, never bit anybody, was never aggressive, maybe the children were teasing him "as they are good for that" and when Walter dashed to the fence, maybe he just wanted to say "hi" Pits are very happy, energetic dogs, and when they dash anywhere, the person they dash towards will either be greeted with a kiss or a wiggly butt, as they are very social animals, originally raised as "nanny dogs" and if they were trusted with people's children, that says something about the breed. Dogs in "illegal" dogfighting rings are FORCED to fight for their lives as they are in an enclosed area with nowhere to go!! Get educated and stop putting labels on animals you know nothing about except the media hype or the people who "train" their dogs to be aggressive, that is on the owner, not the dog!!!!! Walter is a service dog, trained to be support for his companion and has NEVER BITTEN OR SHOWN AGGRESSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a respected jurist we rely on you to exercise your judgment with wisdom. People have a responsibility to treat animals with respect and with the poor dog being taunted, his behavior was EXEMPLARY. He should be given a commendation--not a death sentence.

The neighbor should be arrested and charged with a Hate Crime, and the prosecutor's office should be investigated for their treatment of the disabled community. This is horrifying hate and discrimination in its purest form and cannot be tolerated. Walter did exactly what he is expected to do and should be praised for his bravery.

********An update on Adam and Walter the service dog, inc dog deaths/abuse, witnesses and victims of West (all alleged. West pictured here ----> please share the information to save Walter from this able bodied huge man and monster https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=471222086366675&set=p.471222086366675&type=1&theater ) Plus: A new website for raising funds/petitions ---> http://savewaltermcalister.weebly.com/ The alleged dog killer and abuser responsible for the McAlisters having to fight for their family member, friend and carers life, for them having to publicly ask for help with their legal fees has been named as Steven West. Mr West alleges he feared for himself and his family, he feared a dog that lived behind a six foot plus high fence, a dog that had never shown aggression to either human or animal. His sheer terror of this animal was such that he could casually reach over this six foot plus high fence surrounding the McAlisters property, and record video footage of the aforementioned dog, barking. It should perhaps also be noted that this quivering wreck of a man only recency shot two dogs, which until witnesses came forward, he denied. When the owner asked West why he had shot her Chihuahua he replied he 'did not want the animal on his property' . Witnesses however allegedly state he had left his property and shot the animal in the street then left it to die.... ******One witness states********** ..."The neighbor who is accusing Walter of being aggressive is actually responsible for shooting another neighbor's Chihuahua about 6 years ago point blank with a bb gun. Please do not take this service dog from his guardian, a disabled veteran. The way this other "person" is trying to portray this dog is unconscionable!!! Please, do not let him get away with cruelty to this dog and then reward him!!! He should be prosecuted for cruelty to animals!!!

I have to wonder about the negative influence this man Steven West has upon the local community, it has been alleged that he has shot two small dogs already killing one, the other requiring urgent veterinary surgery. Also that the owners of these animals were intimidated to such a degree by Mr West that they felt it necessary to sell their homes and move out of the area. I feel it is your sworn duty to protect the town and its inhabitants, your duty should lie with the McAlisters and their service animal for it is they who are the victims, News footage of Mr Wests reaction upon leaving court was testament to the fact that he is a calculated liar and is making a mockery of the legal system.. .

SHAME ON THAT NEIGHBOR: 'Their neighbor has been caught on several occasions agitating Walter and attempting to video the ordeal. Any animal behaves in this manner when taunted or teased, especially in defense of their property and family.'

How is Walter in danger when the neighbor is the one causing these issues for this family's dog?

Mayor Butler... I can personally vouch for the wondrous effects, sheer joy & impact that a Service Dog can make on one's life & the Family with which it resides... please re-consider your current state of mind at present...

Dogs bark for many different reasons. The operative word here being "reasons". This dog has never shown aggression towards people, or even other animals. If someone was taunting my dogs like that, I would expect NO LESS than barking. This does NOT warrant my dogs being vicious, or dangerous in any way. It only proves that the dog was being a dog. If someone was taunting my dogs, especially over a 6+ foot fence, they wouldn't have to worry about the dog, they had better be worried about ME. This poor dog has done no wrong, and yet you are willing to possibly condemn him with NO PROOF of such a thing as him being dangerous!? Please reconsider your position, as this doesn't just affect his family, but the whole community.

Do not hurt a loving caring Animal who give her/his life to support and help humans. Do not hurt this poor innocent dog, for if you are taunted and aggrevated by a psychopath human you would react too.. Stop hurting animals just because you have the power to do so..

If a peson taunted and aggrevated me, I'd react, too. So would you, and so did Walter. This is a pointless and heartless attempt to bully the family and do something mean.
