Skating has its risks, DIY or concil built. Would love to skate that spot it looks like alot of fun. Putting in the effort money & time to improve a spot and giving the youth a safe place to skate (not the public streets) should not be condemned or punished but praised and rewarded.

Please save this place, I visit on a regular basis and use this facility. I would really hate to see it go. I'm also interested to see the new work finished, its a good upgrade.

Why tear this down? This person has done something positive by building thing. They have spent their money and time to build something that is not hurting anyone. Please don't knock it down.

I hope to see a positive outcome from this. If a situation becomes so lax on councils behalf that someone takes the time/skill and their own funds to build it them self surely the council can put some effort in to retroactively approve and if needed bring up to code rather than demolish this extension.

I am sure this DIY extension was built as the skatepark didn't cater for the various skill levels & styles of skateboarding. I 100% support keeping the extension at the skatepark.

This is a case of taking some initiative and being creative. Lets hope Matts project gets the tick from council and maybe gets some of that 2 year old funding on track for some more work.

My children would have loved this park 25 years ago when they were teenagers.. My grandchildren love it now.. The council does little to nothing for Venus Bay, and yet we have the highest rates.. Instead of demolishing the skate bowl, how about bringing it up to the standard required...

If it can be improved so that it meet regulations council the centre and Matt should work together. What a shame it would be to see it go to waste.

Hopefully they just get an engineer and tick all the right boxes so it needn't be torn down... Never let the state get between you and your back truck!!!

The skate park should stay!! It is greatly needed in Venus bay and I can't see the workman ship being an issue.

When a local is prepared to put in their own time, money and effort it shows true grit and commitment. People who act for the community (as in this case) must be encouraged. Especially in a time when a greater reliance on social media and computer screens mean the younger generation can become ever more isolated. Give them somewhere to be. Give them something to do. Show them in a real sense how true grit and commitment can make a difference.
