Saint John population has decreased by 2488 individuals from 2011-2016.Between the mid 80's to today we have decreased by around 20,000. Selling off Park land and other Green spaces will not reverse this trend.
This is not smart growth. All you are doing is repeating the mistakes of the past. And doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Well you know the rest.

This is not the solution. New housing developent in Tucker Park is wrong. Develop uptown and other parts of the city. Invest in a grocery store or IMAX theatre at the top of King St. People will move into the city, people are moving into the city but they need to have more amenities to support their move. Selling off park land to a very few is not the solution.

Tucker park is a lovely little green space with a small but beautiful beach that is enjoyed by swimmers, young and old, from the city or those just here for a summer visit. The area is enjoyed by all who love the outdoors and MUST NOT be sold off and developed because of the mistaken belief by the mayor of Saint John and some of the councilors that such a stupid act will bring revenue to the city. There are a great many areas , not green spaces, available for development where the Council can focus their efforts. In this time of climate change , we need to conserve and protect all the natural havens that we have! For God's sake, smarten up!

If funds are a bequeath of someone's generosity (and I see there are still funds remaining to maintain these parks) is it not terribly wrong to ignore this generous donation and sell off this precious land (green space)? This is NOT whether the decision maker loses votes or popularity to quote our mayor!!!

I recently moved to Millidgeville from Quispamsis and one of the main reasons was to enjoy the water access at Tucker Park. This land was gifted to the citizens and should be left as is. Public parks attract people and make a city more livable. We need to increase the tax base of Saint John by promoting it's beautiful public spaces and not selling them off to developers.

Saint John is so fortunate to have clean family friendly beaches within the city limits. These beaches serve all citizens regardless of their economic situation. In my opinion it would be very short sighted to develop these lands .

This is not a fix to our debt. I like how the council voted on a pay raise when times are supposedly so tough. I'm curious what the vacancy rate is in the city and why we are even thinking about losing the only public waterfront on the Kennebecasis river. There is no way this should be allowed to happen.
