I hate Christmas and no tree should be cut down to be replaced with a fake peace of joyless crap

Leave it alone, why would you want to destroy a beautiful tree for an artificial one for a couple of months, doesn't make sense.

It's a disgrace to cut down a beautiful old tree that has memories for lots of local Burdekin people. The current council should be ashamed of their policies. Next election vote them out.

Why destroy a perfectly great shade tree for a tree to use for only a short time - wasteful

How about instead of removing this beautiful tree they decorate it into a Christmas tree

This beautiful native tree needs to be spared. To cut it down for the sake of an artificial tree to be there for a short period makes no sense.

There has to be another area to put a Temporary Xmas tree !? Why would a beautiful tree be removed for this . Providing shade and beauty to the front of theatre for many years to be ripped out for once a year festivities . Terrible on every level .

I do not believe there has been any thought put into decision. That tree provides shade something that there is little of. Why change the position of the Christmas tree in the roundabout. For a start its the first thing seen by the travelling public which creates an interest in our town - for which we do not have a-great deal of a wow factor in our district leave the Christmas tree where it is as well as the tree in the entrance if the forecourt of the theatre. I cannot understand why there has to be any consideration for such a ludicrous idea. Spend the money on something fruitful on another tourist attraction. At least the idea of every business decorating their windows is being bought back. Everyone did that before with a lot of interest to the community. Spend the money of the rate payers to a better cause - even some more fairy lights in the centre- put something extra into the main street instead of taking it away. I am not a one if greens but i don’t think that would go well with them! Please put extra thought into this venture and save our dollars.

It is not easy to understand why the council is cutting down a tree for a decoration to be put in it's place for one month a year

Leave the damn trees alone!!! It's more than just people who need homes. Haven't we stolen enough homes and killed enough animals? Leave the damn trees alone!!!
