This is frankly a stupid idea. My kids love this shady area and they're going to cut it down to put up a fake tree for a few weeks? I wish i knew this before our council elections were had.

Was sitting under that tree just last week and watching the magpie doing its thing. If you must have a tree to celebrate Christmas in that particular spot - just decorate this one

Is this tree gets cut down for such a ridiculous reason I will be mortified. Don't get me wrong I celebrate Christmas and I believe in having beautiful decorations in the community but it is one season for one tiny part of the year. Do not cut down this tree

This is so wrong to cut this beautiful tree down, for the sake of erecting a temporary Christmas tree. Cutting it down will definitely cause an uproar, and anger amongst local people. Spare a thought too for the wildlife, that regard the tree, as their habitat. Should be protected species.

The council need to leave the shady tree there, it's important to have shade so people can sit under while waiting for theatre shows to start, especially the children & elderly of the community.

New to area but moved because we love the community spirit and atmosphere. Was very surprised how they had cut the trees in the main Street in Ayr hopefully they will not cut the tree down. I love sitting under it.

We need that tree to stay where it is, rather than a tatty , old metal pretender that only comes out for a couple of weeks, why can’t the old Christmas tree stay by the fountain in queen street wee it belongs?

Leave the trees alone, like my hubby would have said if it ain't broke don't fix it. They are both where they belong and are beautiful. In fact use the money to plant a couple more.

Trees are vital. Especially in such hot areas of the Burdekin. Trees are important for reasons including; climate change, air quality, oxygen, wildlife, stress reduction, landmarks, community and aesthetics. Why is Burdekin Shire Council so obsessed with removing trees!!! They must maintain them. They have significantly increased rates making more money than ever. They have the funds to maintain trees.

The tree at roundabout is a focal position & should be left as is. Everyone sees this wonderful Christmas greeting here. At the Burdekin Theatre only a small minority will notice it. Why not decorate the live tree so tree can remain. Very disappointing.
