A development project at 202 West Broadway wants to tear down a beautiful Zelkova Tree to make space for a curb cut. Not only will this create more congestion on West Broadway, but it will deprive this section of the street with all of the benefits of this tree, which totals $133 per year. (To see the full benefits of this tree visit www.arborday.org) Please show your support for the trees in South Boston by attending the hearing on October 4th at 10am in the Dorothy Curran Conference Room at 1010 Massachusetts Avenue and speak out against the removal of this important tree.

Updates

October 2, 2012

Seeing this much momentum makes the long nights pushing for this tree feel a bit more manageable. I am still exhausted but grateful that people are starting to pay attention to what we stand to lose at the site.

Its just a curb cut. They can easily move the driveway entrance down a few feet and keep the tree. Lazy planning.

That tree has been there forever. Southie is losing all its character to these new developers who dont care about anything but money.
