Council confirmed this morning that the proposed fee structure is officially off the table and the long-term usage agreement for the swimming clubs will remain in place. We secured the commitment we were seeking and will now monitor the upcoming budget cycle to ensure these terms are upheld.

Final supporters
Over the past 6yrs Council has been determined to see that, the swimming clubs which have used Manly Boy Charlton Pool for more then 70yrs to pay excess fees which will essentially see the clubs fold.
Prior to Council deciding to Change the 70yr agreement that ensured the clubs could utilise the pools for specific hours per week to run its community swimming races, the clubs would swim at MBCP providing its own insurances and our members paying ever increasing entry fees.
The clubs have acknowledged that due to changing times that a possibly a reasonable fee could be paid to council to ensure these community clubs continue to provided a great cost effective and family friendly sporting event for all to enjoy. Through some reasearchbthe clubs have discovered that all sporting clubs across the Norhern Beaches Council pay a fee to council to use the fields for competition and training purposes, the fee is approx $12 per child and $16 per adult. The clubs feel that this fee is an acceptable fee that can be covered by the members with out having to pay excessive fees to register.
There are not many sporting events which can cater to all age groups and all abilities/ disabilities and allow them to be competitive through handicapped races. The clubs are not specifically for competitive swimmers but instead encourages everybody to "just give it a go" and to improve an individuals swimming ability.
The clubs are looking for support through the wider community to help keep these clubs up and running for many years to come.

I have finalized a document outlining the fee discrepancies between our swimming clubs and other local sporting groups. This brief is currently being delivered to the Council general manager to initiate a formal review of the current charges.

The current volume of support necessitates a formal adjustment in our strategy. I am drafting a briefing document for the Council to review alongside our previous proposal before the upcoming budget committee meeting.

Please see sense and help Manly Ladies Swimming Club operate in 2017. Everyone is more than happy to pay reasonable fees in lines with other sports of the Northern Beaches (i.e. $12/child, $16/adult) The swim club provides a wonderful environment to nurture children's loves for swimming.
What council has done is a disgrace, they didn't listen to the pleadings of all the user groups before they spent 30M giving them something they didn't want, now they want those groups to pay off something they don't use, pretty much every user group still swims in the old pools!
It is sad to see the pool virtually empty when the members would be swimming with large numbers. The council has clearly based there demands on incorrect information and their stubbornness is robbing many of participating in a fantastic activity and at the same time costing the rate payers thousands.
Been a member of the club since I was five years old, I was the first male swimming member which turn Manly Ladies swimming club into Manly Ladies & Associates swimming club. I am shocked at the council for its decisions and trying to destroy a very proud history.
If the fees are to high I won't be able to send my 4 kids to swimming clubs as cannot afford pool fees as well as club fees each week for 6 of us. It's a shame cause my sons dream is to go to the Olympics for swimming and cost is stopping me to help him achieve it
The cost of going for a swim these days is already ridiculous. To put financial pressure on community based, inclusive clubs is just shameful and un-Australian.
We would like to keep the clubs up and running.

Manly council ignores any voice that don't suit their vision. No waterpolo pool?? Really. No swimming clubs?? 1000 kids play Waterpolo. Many more swim. How's the gym going? 47 members
