SU is too important to us with short lunches and don’t have enough time to go to the high street whilst having healthy nutritious food. Without it the school would feel lifeless.

The students union is an essential part to our university life. It gives us somewhere to go and be with everyone and gives us good food and drink. The staff are always friendly and they would be out of a job if it were to close. It would be a disgrace and frankly the people involved should be ashamed if it happens.

It is an essential part of the school, and shouldn’t be treated as a business, instead it should be ran effectively to make sure people can afford the food against other food competitors whilst still staying afloat. It would be a massive shame to see this gone.

The SU not only an important part of the East 15 campus but an integral element of providing meals and drinks to students throughout the day and acting as a bar for when shows are available. Shutting down the only accessible source of warm food on campus and replacing it with overpriced vending machines that may not be constantly filled will only lead to dissatisfaction and disappointment.

I live to have a lovely chat with the kitchen lady’s which are the loveliest and most hard working women on the campus. I live for a warm English breakfast aswell a hot green tea with honey and not to forget a heartwarming saying from the staff.
Please don’t close the SU, it’s what makes Essex a special university and East15 a special acting school. ❤️

we feel disregarded and forgotten about at loughton campus. As students, we are just as much a part of the University of Essex as any other student based in Southend or Colchester and want to feel that way.

The SU is an essential hub for students in east15. It provides a space for students to sit indoors, to work in the company of their friends between lessons and most importantly it provides people with food. Over the years the SU has been stripped of many of its merits; Beer on draught, affordable food, being consistently and reliably open after school. Not one of these changes was called for by students but instead by the accountants and financiers of the University of Essex who deem things like the student union as unimportant, inspite of the fact that the SU’s presence and provision of food is strictly outlined in University Guidelines. We pay thousands of pounds of year and all we have seen is things being taken away from us.
