Field hockey isn't calming down. I can not see why the school has tried and tried to rid the F.H program. It's not fair to the kids.

We need to stop cutting things that are for the kids. They need to look at cutting from the top first!

Field hockey and my team got me through more moments in school than any other. It taught me so much, crucial life and social skills that I would not be me today without. Anyone with love for the game should be able to enjoy playing it regardless of how unpopular others may see it. There is no other sport like field hockey for these young ladies do not take that from them.

All sports need our 100% support. Our children need sports to help them learn all the valuable lessons that come with being a part of a team.

While there are enough players for the team, please work it out to be the best possible Cosmos season experience for the girl athletes!

If there are enough players to support the team for the next two years, we should be supporting the youth in anyway possible to engage in positive extracurricular activities. What kind of message are we sending to the town when one of the few female dominant sports is cut while more traditional male sports (e.g., football) remain with significant investment? Promote the sport more within the school! Have the rec start promoting it at a younger age to pipeline the children in just like you do with baseball/softball, soccer, basketball. Aside from the accesses to classroom support, our more robust athletic department is one of the few draws and positives to the Springfield School District!

Our daughter began her interest as a second grader when they offered an open age summer
Camp. Her love of the sport helped take her thru college and then on to coaching college field hockey for 10 more years! Help support girls field hockey….help encourage women’s athletic ability!!!

Classic sport like this should be advertised and glorified instead of pulling the plug on it. Absolute nonsense that was the answer

You need to keep field hockey accessible for the students that want to play. There are enough players for the next two years so keep it going. You take away so much from these kids. Try recruiting more players. Let them know they can get PE credits. Keep them active and involved!

Field Hockey was a important part of my daughter’s life. Ironically it is only a female sport. Why is this being targeted? Is it budgeting issue? Do we need a football team? The cost of coaches? We aren’t Texas folks! Let’s keep field hockey. Time to clean house with the AD and focus on affordable athletics, and other activities that benefit all Springfield students not just a select few males.
