My friend has been looking forward to her grade 12 musical for so long. She has been working so hard every year with the back stage crew! She deserves to have a musical in her senior year!

Good job standing up for the program! The musical is an important creative outlet at every school and is worth saving!

As someone who grew up with the dramatic Arts and have been in numerous plays I would be extremely disappointed to see this taken away from its students.

the musical was one of the biggest parts of my life at sma. many of my favourite memories and some of my best friends were made through this program. please don’t take this away from students, they deserve to have this creative outlet.

I hope you reach your goal! It’s disappointing to see SMA cut budgets (I’m assuming) on the arts... maybe instead of buying new tv’s last year that were never used they could of saved that money and directed it better! Good luck:)

The plays/musicals bring together so many girls of different ages (as well as same age that they otherwise were not friends with) whether they are acting or working behind the scenes❤️ The school community needs this!

The arts in schools are very important to allow students to express their creativity! SMA musicals meant so much to me during my time there and I wouldn’t want any other SMAG to miss out on the opportunity to be a part of the creation of such a beautiful thing!

As an sma student I find it very disappointing and rather sudden that such a dire decision has been made regarding the annual sma musical. Considering the musical has always been very well received by students, staff, alumni and our fellow community, I find that the decision to make the musical a biannual occasion is a very poor one at that. Not only are you taking away an opportunity for next years graduating class, but you are also taking away a much appreciated opportunity to foster an artistic, creative environment for your students. With such an outstanding drama wing that might arguably have some of the nicest facilities in the city, I find it devastating to think that they won’t be used to their highest level of potential. The play provides a sense of belonging for a great deal of students that don’t always fit in with other aspects of the school community. As a student of sma I speak on the behalf of many students when I say that making the musical a biannual event is a poor decision for the school and most importantly for its students.

The SMA plays have always been an integral part of the St. Mary's school culture. My mother, my sisters & I all were part of the productions while we attended the school, whether we had an acting part or supported it in the background. It was one of the anchors that made us feel like we were an important part of the school. It is unthinkable to diminish the arts program in any way.
