Final supporters
It has recently been voted on and passed to cut the entire music department from Newman University. This would be extremely detrimental to not only the students (both past and present) but to Newman University's culture as a whole. This music department has been the face for Newman University to the public community in many different situations over the years. Please sign this petition to tell the decision makers at Newman that we do not want to see this wonderful program be thrown out of the Newman University experience.

I am disappointed to see a Catholic institution has voted to cut a part of the school so closely related to Catholic culture. Music is such a vital part of the church. Just a because the music department doesn’t generate income doesn’t mean it should be cut.
This was a blessing to our son who never sand in high school. This built many friendships to last through years. It was therapy for stress of classes. It helped my son come out of his shell. Plus they do so much for the community and college.
The Newman music program is the only reason I have ever been on the campus of Newman University. I have sent several of my music students to Newman to study and participate in the music program. I am appalled that this is even a consideration.
Cutting music out of Newman University would cause irreparable damage to both the university itself and the Wichita community as a whole. The music department is a huge part of what keeps me coming back to NU as an alumna. Let us keep music in our lives!
I lived and breathed this music department my 4 years I attended. As a 4 year member of the Troubadors it was my reason for attending Newman U. By cutting a vital Liberal Art department you are insulting the memory of Cardinal Henry Newman.

My bachelor’s and master’s are from Newman and I’ve been considering adding a PhD to the list recently. This cut has really made me change my mind. My four years in Troubadours was my best time as an undergrad. Liberal Arts includes music.
