What would your life be without music? Your radio dial at talk radio, your favorite theme song to a movie or television show goes un-played, the opera without the orchestra and song, or a kindergartner’s first performance without the piano. This is what our world will look like if schools continue to cut music programs. The new reality for Newark Unified School music programs is grim. The Board has delivered a pink slip to the Band Director for the Newark Jr. High and Newark Memorial High Schools. We have been informed that the district’s plan is to remove all elective classes from the NJHS and only have a part-time position for band at NMHS. We ask at this time if you would like a world without music? If you can’t imagine your world without music, please sign our petition.
