Please reconsider your decision to cut the music program at your fine school. I'm sure you have made this decision with much prayer and thought however, cutting the arts is never a good idea. Music is one thing we can never live without and you never know what leaders you may be training.

My daughter wants a catholic college with a music program close to home. We have already scheduled a visitation date. She’s a 4.0 transfer student. Please don’t get rid of this program.

I am disappointed to see a Catholic institution has voted to cut a part of the school so closely related to Catholic culture. Music is such a vital part of the church. Just a because the music department doesn’t generate income doesn’t mean it should be cut.

As a math teacher, I consistently see amazing things from my students that are highly involved in our music classes / programs. From the benefits of practice, to finding and using patterns, music is very important for problem solvers. Please continue your music program.

Music is life and culture. Psalms 150: 1-5
How can people uphold this verse without a program to educate them?

Music is an important part of our lives it lifts our spirits and can help us relive memories through songs. Also, music gives students a creative outlet. Don't cut the department.

I wouldn't be who I am today without my music experiences in college. Cutting this program is a mistake, as you're cutting the spirit and passion of the students you're supposed to serve. You're gutting the entire soul of a university.

This is a disgusting and ridiculous cut to make in the interest of funding. The music program at Newman has enriched the educations and lives of students for years, and has been a fundamental backbone of university relations, events, ministry, and joy. I was a Chorale and Troubadour member and had this program been cut while I was a student I would have immediately gone elsewhere for my education.

A Catholic university is supposed to be devoted to developing the whole person. Maintaining the music program allows young adults to use talents given to them by God.

Music is great for the brain, a previous teacher and nun told us “singing is praying twice”, & the arts are therapeutic for performs & audiences. Three good reasons to keep the music program at a Catholic university that is supposed to be devoted to developing the whole person.

Please do NOT take music away from these deserving students! Cutting the arts from education leaves our society with young adults who are not cultured or well-rounded. Music changes lives, and is truly a gift from God. Please allow these students and future students the chance to share their talents and time, their individual gifts from our Lord.
