My husband and I wanted to move to Middle Haddam because of the old historical charm. We knew moving to this area there were restrictions because of it being zoned for a "Historical District". For example, we don't have mailboxes. If a simple thing like a mailbox isn't allowed because it takes away from the look of our area, just imagine changing the zone. What kind of things will start being allowed after that? We love the way it is and once turning down Long Hill Road you immediately step away from the over development of East Hampton. It would be an absolute disgrace if the town allows anyone to change the zoning.

I live on Rte. 151. Middle Haddam is a unique and irreplaceable historic area that dates back to the 1700s and its shipbuilding heyday. It must be preserved!

All aspects of the subdivision need to be studied. Traffic, drainage, wetlands, conservation and/or open space come to mind.

There's no community demand or need for this additional housing stock. Building it is expressly against the wishes of the MHHD residents. It reduces rather than improves their quality of life. Where's the justification for allowing it?

There is also a question of precedent here. If this development is allowed then why not further ones in the MH Historic District?

The MH Historic District is a piece of irreplaceable history and should not be split up for development. I grew up around here and value this important part of our CT heritage.
