I have been a member and supporter of Grant MaCEwan Sport and Wellness for most if the years it has been in existence. I am truly disappointed in the decision and greatly concerned about the reduced opportunity to introduce new players to this support for life.

Macewan has some of the newest and nicest courts in edmonton. Squash is a growing sport and it is a shame to take away the few places specifically designed and made for squash for generic fitness areas that can be easily reproduced elsewhere. By removing the courts, players are even more limited. Macewan needs to offer students all sports including squash, especially as a growing university. Keep the courts so we can gain newer players and continue to grow the squash community

please don't close these courts- students should have access to a wide VARIETY of sports facilities, not just weights and spin bikes-follow UofC's lead!

The seemingly low utilization rate was probably obtained by including data from the quieter summer months. I'm sure the utilization rates for most of the recreational facilities drops off from May through August.

Squahs Courts are far and few between in Edmonton. This would be huge blow to the sport in Edmonton.

Every time I have visited the MacEwan courts, they have always been in full use by squash players. The decision to close the courts is poorly made and short sighted. The planned usage of the courts can happen in other spaces in MacEwan and surrounding areas. Closing of the squash courts will result in damage to the squash community that cannot be easily repaired once this decision has taken effect. MacEwan was founded as an institution for the community... it would seem university status has resulted in them losing their way…

These squash courts are an important recreational asset for our community. As a taxpayer and therefore funder of your institution, I believe the courts need to remain open. If finances are a concern, then the University should set the membership rate to be consistent with other for-profit organizations who offer a similar service.

These courts serve thousdands of people in there pursuit of health and wellness. Squash is a great physical activity as shown by the utilization rates of the courts. There must be better solutions to meet the needs of general fitness and studio space.

I strongly disagree with the decision MacEwan has made to close their squash courts. Edmonton has lost a significant number of squash courts over the past few years this is just another nail in the Edmonton squash communities coffin.
