There must be some way to save these beautiful, old trees and maintain highway safety.

We can not replace 200 to 300 year old trees in our lifetime. These beautiful trees are the reason people love coming to Louisiana. Many of the trees scheduled to be cut down were planted by ancestors of people that live in our area. Please save our live oak trees everywhere!

the trees are not anymore dangerous than a parked car, a house , a ditch, or anything else on the side of the road. those trees have been there way before any road was built. put up a guardrail or move the road, which needs to be redone anyway.

To the person who started the petition and I think I know because of our visit yesterday Thank You.
I really needed this to know that others as well as our friends on face book felt the same way about these trees. If I can help you in any way and I will keep your name to myself then feel free to call me.

There must be, has to be, a better solution than killing these trees. Mother Earth cannot withstand the constant destruction of her trees. If DOTD kills these majestic trees, will they compensate the owners and will they plant another tree @ a more appropriate location. Of course planting a new tree will not provide the positive effects these 100-200 yr old trees do immediately but they will for future generations. Having driven this stretch of road often, the trees do not pose a safety risk to those operating their motor conveyances in a safe manner. Could be deadly for speeders and drunks. Perhaps DOTD is concerned with the effects roots may have on the roadway, there has to be a solution for this issue as well.

Keep the trees, change the road. Live oaks are a part of louisiana heritage and why tourists and movie companies visit here.
