in Jamaica, SEP provides young Jamaicans with the best opportunity for learning
more about protecting the environment and securing their future. The SEP programme offers training to both
students and teachers in areas such as managing garbage, greening of school
grounds, strengthening or establishing an environmental club and environmental
research.
The Jamaica Climate Change Youth Council stands in strong support of the Jamaica Environment Trust‘s SEP initiative, and we are greatly disappointed at the talks of restricting funding. We are appealing for the powers that be to reconsider the defunding of such an initiative, for the sake of young people across Jamaica.
We are the generation that must live with the realities of climate change and environmental degradation. By discontinuing the SEP programme, you will be taking away the best opportunity we have to make meaningful change on environmental issues and rescue our country from the inevitable effects of a changing climate.

The feedback I have received from educators and young people confirms that this program is a vital lifeline for our schools. We are currently working to connect with the relevant stakeholders to ensure they understand the long term impact of these potential funding cuts.

Reaching this level of support confirms that many people recognize the vital role the SEP initiative plays in the future of our environment. It is clear that the community understands the urgency of protecting these educational opportunities for our youth.

My niece loves her environmental club at school. It really changed how she sees things. Dont let this die.
THEY BETTER NOT CUT THIS. We need the environment protection knowledge more than ever right now.
Keep SEP running! It is the only thing we actually have for students to get hands on experience. Fix this.
This program helped my school out so much. We learned way more about the environment here than in any textbook. Keep it funded.

Ridiculous to cut this. Our kids need to know how to take care of the island. Dont take this away from us.
