I was checking the page just now and the amount of support is honestly making my head spin because I never thought so many people would actually care about keeping this program open. It feels like the school board might actually have to listen to us now since the momentum is moving so fast and honestly I am just trying to keep up with all the emails coming in.

I understand if a class has to be canceled because of numbers but if it’s true that the class wasn’t on a platform for students to sign up fairly then I find that sad. Hopefully numbers do go up for the class with fair representation of the course.
Being able to learn Japanese language is so rare and special, especially when there are no other high schools around us offer the program. Both of my kids took Japanese for 4 years and both of them got into prestigious colleges. I have been very happy and proud that DVHS has a Japanese language course. Don't get rid of the program, please.
Japanese is a great class! I don’t understand why they would take away the Japanese language from this school, in fact one of the only reasons I came to DV was BECAUSE of the Japanese class, in there we learn about not just the language, but the culture itself. It’s one of the classes I look forward to every day! Give this class one more chance!
At a minimum, DVHS should provide for current Japanese 1 student the opportunity to achieve fluency while winding down the program starting with Japanese 1 next year. For students interesting in the UC system, they would have to switch languages to achieve the recommended 3 Years. Otherwise they will be at a disadvantage.
I want to learn the Japanese language to help communicate with my family in Japan. So please don’t let me lose this opportunity #SaveTheJapaneseLanguage
I love Japanese and hope it’ll continue even after I graduate
I took Japanese at deer valley and it’s disappointing to see that they’re trying to shut down the program again despite students enjoying the class.

Very few high schools include an Asian language in the curriculum. All that's left are UNCOMMON European languages, if diversity is important keeping the Japanese language program is essential.
