The fame of the rhinoceros in India is immense and has been adopted by the Government of Assam as the state symbol. Kaziranga National Park has been hailed as a conservation success story but even as the praise continues, their state pride continues to be poached. Many times the Forest Department cannot assign rangers to the national park because of a shortage of manpower. It is time to make our voices heard to the Indian Government and to the Forest Department so that this beautiful species can be conserved.
