As a guy dog user for more than 20 years, two of my Five, Guide Dogs have been raised by very incredible, responsible young people. Further, I have directly seen the impacts. These young people have been made in their adult lives, noting that some of the most critical skills they learned were from your program.

This is a very valuable program for so many reasons. First, kids learn about responsibility about caring for another living being. They learn about patience. They learn about effectively communicating in training, an animal. More importantly, they learned the value of giving their time and volunteering to make a difference in the world. Many of those dogs that they raise become partners to those that are blind and help them live a full and independent life. I am one of those people who benefits. And I know, that all of my guide dogs I’ve had wouldn’t be with me if it weren’t for the Loving, selfless act of puppy razors. Within every guy dog beats the heart of a puppy razor. Don’t take this away from so many amazing people who want to make a difference in the world.

This is a powerful program that facilitates skills schools try to instill via paper and pencil and can only be attained through experience. Please rethink this decision

Please do not take away this amazing program. There are many teens and youths that don't have other club opportunities. This is a great way for teens to make friends, learn about animals and learn a lot of responsibility. This is a unique opportunity that only SLC school districts offer in this state. Please let this program continue.

I started raising in high school and it was the best thing I ever did. I am now on my 5th puppy and have hundreds of friends and family because of it. I have gotten scholarships, jobs, and tons of volunteer experience. My first puppy Roo is now a guide dog and I visit her and her family often because they have become my family too. I have created lifelong friendships through GDB with people I never would have met otherwise. It helps not only with confidence but also networking which is incredibly important for young adults.

GDB is an incredible opportunity for young students to take on real responsibility and make a meaningful difference in other people's lives. Being part of this program has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It has helped me build confidence, empathy, and a deeper understanding of others. Raising and training guide dog puppies is not just about helping the future owners of these dogs. It is about learning patience, dedication, and compassion, skills that carry over into every part of life. On top of that, the program has tangible benefits. The community service hours I earned through GDB helped me secure jobs, scholarships, and even admission to vet school. Beyond academics, the friendships, teamwork, and personal growth I experienced while working with these dogs and with my peers have been invaluable. I have learned responsibility in a way that no other class or extracurricular could have provided. Discontinuing this program would be a huge loss not just for students but for the community as a whole. GDB has a proven track record of positively impacting so many lives, including students, the people who receive these guide dogs, and the community at large. I truly hope you can reconsider this decision and allow this life-changing program to continue. It is more than a class. It is an opportunity to make a lasting difference.

My sister did the guide dogs program twice, and it helped transform her school life as much as it transformed the recipients. This is an opportunity for kids to make a difference in a huge way.

I have been a puppy raiser since I was in elementary school and took pups to school with me all the way through college. Having pups in high school brought me so many incredible opportunities, don’t take that away from these raisers!
