Great program. It’s a life changer for those that receive a guide dog, but also a life changer for those who raise a puppy.

My daughter raised guide dog puppies and was fascinated by the training process and how the pups developed . She went on to get a degree in animal behavior, a growing field, and is now in her 4th year of her PhD studying canine cognition. Programs like this can change the course of lives. Please keep it running.

I am a blind person who is fortunate enough to be matched with one of the guides trained in this class, Michiko. Michiko is extraordinarily well trained and has perfect house behaviors. We are so happy to have her as a member of our family.

This class does more than train dogs. It teaches the students responsibility and gives them skills that can be used later in life

This is a beneficial class that benefits students and the beneficiaries of their work that , I believe, the Salt Lake District, is forgetting about and or ignoring the implications of ending this class.

Please do not discontinue this beneficial program.

Please save the program. It's all positive. Students learn discipline, caring, compassion and coping skills (sending dogs back to training) that's something that lasts a lifetime and can't be taught in a classroom. They also see what their hard work can mean to a blind person's life when the puppy they raised graduates and becomes part of a working team and the difference it makes to their new handlers' life. The Guide Dog schools wouldn't be able to help so many people become independent without Puppy Raisers doing so much work in the pup's early years. There is definite value for the students, seeing all their work become something wonderful.

Raising a guy dog puppy does a lot for the person raising that dog. It can give them confidence, it can give them stability, it can give them somebody to talk to and to learn valuable experiences. But then that puppy goes on to open the world to a blind person. My first guide was raised by a high school student, and she went onto raise a number of guy dog puppies after that and has now gone on to getting a degree working with animals.
