The Camel pub was threatened with a similar residential conversion a few years back and was saved by the local population, so there is no reason why the same cannot be done to encourage another commercial business to take the place of the Thai Garden in our lovely community.
The property is currently displaying a 'Sold - subject to contract' sign, and a planning application has been submitted to Tower Hamlets council to convert the property. You can make an objection to it by clicking through on this link should you wish, and/or please sign this petition.

Needs to stay commercial. If we lose the shop fronts we lose everything that makes this area decent.
Getting tired of seeing the neighborhood lose its soul. Thai Garden was a staple for years and now just more housing? Bad move.
STOP THE CONVERSION. WE NEED SHOPS NOT MORE FLATS THAT NOBODY LOCALLY CAN AFFORD ANYWAY.
Enough with turning every single shop into flats. We need places to go. Keep Globe Road for businesses please.
This street is slowly dying because of all these changes. Its supposed to be a community not just a dormitory for people passing through.

The closure of ground floor shops and their conversion into residential dwellings is having a hugely detrimental effect on the local community. As is those dwelling that are pretending to be shops but not actually open to public and engaged in trade.
