The Gaggle is staying open and the sale has been officially called off. I am overwhelmed that we saved the heart of our village and I truly appreciate your support. Let us keep enjoying our local pub and remain ready to protect it if anything changes.

I have been spending my evenings reading through the memories you are sharing about the pub and they confirm why this place is the heart of our village. While the owners remain quiet for now, your stories are proof of exactly what we stand to lose if this sale goes through.

Seeing this kind of momentum reminds me how many of you cherish the Gaggle as much as my family does. It is truly heartening to know this pub means so much to the soul of our village.

I really don't think Paul gives a toss about the views of the villagers so I am not going to email him. He is well aware of our views. He bought the place at a knock down price on the basis it was to be run as a licensed premises but I don't think he was particularly motivated - he was all 'hail fellow well met' to begin with but I bet that all along he was musing on the prospect of turning it into a (his) private residence. What I want is for him to put it back on the market and push off back to wherever. Only problem is he may well put it on the market at an inflated price in order to achieve what I think his aims have been all along. If he does reopen it would be grudgingly and, no doubt, under restricted hours. Not the answer. He must sell. Iain (Fergusson)

The previous two owners managed an attractive, thriving and friendy pub and there's no reason why a similarly motivated new owner couldn't do the same.

As somebody about to move into the area I was pleased to see a proper local pub was nearby. I was horrified to see that the Gaggle Of Geese had closed.

Too many pubs closing down lately. It was the heart of the village and we need it back open for everyone.
