If this is for disabled use, and disabled people have said it would be easier for them at the back of the hall because of the car park, then they need to stopit now. It looks godawful and seems architecturally insane.

The wonderful frontage of St.John's Hall should be kept. Only careful, sensitive changes should be made that ensure the lovely historical aspects of this part of Penzance are preserved for the future.

I was a pupil at The School of St Clare in the late 1950's and our annual Speech Day was always held here. The four years I was at St. Clare, St. John's Hall was (and still is) an icon of the town. This abomination of altering the frontage is horrendous and should be halted immediately. Come on Cornwall Council have some sense and stop this ruination of such a wonderful building.

Penzance like many towns needs to progress but always needs to celebrate its historical heritage. St John's is part of a rich cultural history that matters.

I am sure people with disabilities would be happy to access this historic building via an adapted entrance at the side. In fact I would be happy to use the side entrance as well, rather than spoil what is a beautiful frontage.

As a former Penzance boy, I am horrified to see the desecration of this historic town landmark. It wouldn't happen to one of our stately homes, cathedrals or historic buildings.

And this travesty get's built while the iconic Jubilee Pool remains a wreck. Surely there is a more aesthetically pleasing and sympathetic way forward to a listed building to provide disabled access? Another example of Penzance Town Council feathering their own nest while the rest of the town teeters on the brink of economic meltdown and collapse. DISGRACEFUL!!!

No private person would be allowed to do this to a listed building in a conservation officer, so why has Cornwall Council even considered it. There must be other acceptable ways to provide disabled access.
