This is an incredibly poor and insensitive design solution. When will CC realise that they need to appoint better quality architects that know how to treat buildings and designs with respect and ingenuity?!

What an utter waste of money. What IS OR WAS wrong with the big door @ the back of the hall, so easy for all to enter via it. This is just squandering money as is the spend on new GLASS DOORS I read about last week. Wake up & listen to people, hurry up & finish so we the public can use the hall again.

Why do Cornwall Council think that they can desecrate such an iconic building yet expect the general public to have to apply to even change the colour of the paint on their house and, furthermore, use a colour that the Council dictates in some cases ? The changes to St.Johns Hall are nothing short of sacrilege !

People have happily managed to enter the hall for the past 40 years via the SHELTERED disabled entrance at the rear of the hall

I'm disabled and am happy to use a different access to the building.
You have to use special slate, wooden sash windows etc in private houses in Penzance conservation area, but it's OK to completely change the front of this building?

The frontage of this iconic listed building must be maintained. There is already disabled access available. This is pure desecration.What is the point of the building being listed at all?

We need to regain pride of our town along with its history and to deface the town hall in this way is an outrage. Shame on the town council and cornwall council for allowing such alterations to even be considered.

Why has this idea even passed?
What is the reason to do this to such a iconic building of penzance??
IF they are going to do this to the st johns hall they might as well build round the statue in the middle of town as well or even a massive wall along the prom?
Penzance people are proud of their area and what they have but if the council just goes round building in front of every thing for retirement homes then no one will care about the area….. then the youth won't either…. then increase in crime and drugs
