This cannot be allowed. There's absolutely no reason to spoil the facade of such an important building in Penzance. There are far better ways to achieve access without destroying the appearance of the front of St John's Hall

A totally unacceptable design for the frontage of this Grade II building. It is NOT too late to think again. The architects and councillors should be ashamed of themselves for approving this frontage. It woujld never pass any planning committee if a member of the public put it forward.

One of the great granite facades ruined by a bunch of ****'* based in Truro. Come on English Heritage get your act together and get them to remove the eyesore.

WOULD NEVER THINK ENGLISH HERITAGE AND OTHER PRESERVATION BODIES WOULD EVER ALLOW THIS DISTRUCTION TO HAPPEN. "DISGRACEFULL".

Yet another eyesore being inflicted on Penzance. What ARE they thinking? Leave it alone.

residents with mobility issues have said they are fine with a side entrance from the car park. is it really necessary to put easy access right in front?

Do not feel the council should be able to just do as they please with listed building when general public get their permissions refused. An iconic building being ruined.

I performed there, did front of house for the Operatic, back stage with the long lost Pom Harvey (mine's a barley wine); many great memories so don't mess it up!

Stop it right now,how the hell do you think this is acceptable? You're quick enough to stop anybody doing anything in the way of development to even a garden shed and yet you create this hideous lash-up to what must be one of THE MOST CLASSIC EXAMPLES of a listed building in our town. If it is to create disabled access then use the side or rear of the building which would have direct access from the car park. Fucking morons.
