I was born and grew up in Penzance and although I no longer live there I am appalled at what is being done to the façade of St. John's Hall. This iconic building is being ruined by people who have given no thought to the history of the building.

This an iconic historical building built out of granite ...so why use concrete blocks when we have granite quarries that can supply ....I am disabled and have always used the entrance at the rear as many others have with no problems....5.1 million is a lot of money to be spent on this building especially when the lichen has not been removed...would be interested in the accounts to view what the money has been spent on...and also how many artifacts have been stripped from the building

Why destroy something with such history & beauty? Being a local, I've always loved the sheer grandeur of St. Johns Hall & yes, that does include the front!! Shame on the council...

The rear of the building already has an access level with the car park which was used for disabled previously.........is it beyond the possibility to have upgraded this access with a clever design and access the lifts from there?......Sorry I see the problem, the words "clever design" are involved.......not seen that from any public sector for a long time!!!!!!!!!!

What on Earth has caused any member of the Cornwall County Council to do this to a part of our town? Do you not think Penzance suffers enough without building a concrete pile of crap outside its town hall? Leave it alone and spend the tax payers money on things to actually befit the towns people. You have no sense.

Looks terrible and breaks up the frontage of a nationally important listed building. I understand the need for disabled access, but surely a better solution could be found?
