The Dining Car is an anchor business in Northeast Philadelphia. What may look to some outsiders like merely reducing the hours of a local neighborhood institution from 24 hours a day to 7AM to 9PM; us true believers, dedicated diners and residents see this as a bad sign that our beloved Dining Car may be on the way out.
We, the loyal fans of the Dining Car, are petitioning the ownership to please cancel the planned reduction of hours. For us, the Dining Car isn't just a diner or a business - it's a way of life. By altering that way of life (not only overnights, but early pre-work breakfasts), we feel as though not only will our eating habits be changed, but they very culture of our slice of the Northeast itself. Please reconsider.

The owners are still hiding behind their closed doors but we are making enough noise that the neighborhood is finally waking up to the threat. I have spent the last few days talking to regulars who refuse to accept this slow death of a Philly landmark. Keep passing this around because these corporate suits think we are just going to roll over and let them strip away our history.

The owners of the Dining Car are ignoring us while they dismantle a neighborhood staple. This outpouring of support proves they cannot just slide these changes past us without a massive fight.

The Dining Car is a Philly landmark. My grandfather took me there and now I take my kids. Dont change the hours please.
NOTHING beats a late night slice of cake here after a long shift at the hospital. This place needs to stay open 24/7 or it just wont be the same.
The Dining Car has become me and my friends go to place. For years, we could go enjoy some late night coffee and pancakes and catch up with eachother. We have made so many memories there and want to continue to do so.
I remember the early morning visits to the dining car after a long trip or party with my family as a kid and continued the tradition with my wife and sons as recently as after the last Dead & co show a few months ago.
I have gone to Dining Car, numerous times at 12 am. This is my spot late at night and early in the morning. No one is as good as the Dining Car.

grew up going here every sunday morning for breakfast with my dad. its wrong for them to cut the hours. keep it how it was!
