We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our Bainbridge City Council leaders to uphold the Historic Preservation Commissions decision to deny the demolition of 423, 429, and 433 E. Shotwell Street (aka the "Cooper House"). This viable property is significant in its historical, cultural, and architectural uniqueness. The historical, cultural and aesthetic heritage of the City of Bainbridge is among its most valued and important assets. The preservation of this heritage is essential to the promotion of the growth, prosperity, and general welfare of its citizens.

I appreciate the complexity of one's rights versus the ideals of a community. But - I beseech you to embrace the narrative that we are stewards of our space and time. These homes connect the past to the present and provide an additional example of the amazing architecture of Bainbridge.
Councils should always support the recommendation and work of community based citizen boards. They are there to take public input and make recommendations based on the will of the community.
Save this house! I have fond memories of staying there when my sister and her husband rented an upstairs apartment in this home. Loved going out on the little upstairs porch and watching folks go by on Shotwell Street.
Even though I no longer live in Bainbridge, I cannot imagine demolishing this historic home. My beloved former community of 46 years is better than this! As s former Realtor, these incredible homes on Shotwell St. are what catches the attention of many from out of state to want to live here. Preserve our heritage!
Don’t let them take this piece is history in Bainbridge!!! The church can build a multistory parking garage on its existing parking lot to account it’s parishioners!

It is shameful that people in this town are trying to tear down history for a parking lot, like there isn't infinite street parking on any block surrounding the church. We are the stewards of our own history, but they want to tear it down for some asphalt. Shameful.
