This monument was erected immediately after the Civil War by survivors of the fallen. It was not a reaction to the civil rights movement and should be left as is as a sacred memorial to our county resident who were among the nearly 600,000 citizens from both the North and South were slain. I want my grandchildren and future generations to know the TRUTH, good, bad and ugly!
