Final supporters
The graduates of the Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs fill a community need in private dental offices and other health care facilities in our northern district. However, College of New Caledonia graduates are employed in all corners of the BC Dental Community.
We see this as a short-sighted proposal that will greatly impact the needs of students, the daily operations of community dental offices (especially northern), and the oral health and welfare of the residents of British Columbia.
We request the College Board of the College of New Caledonia reject the recommendation made by the Executive of the College of New Caledonia and continue to intake Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene students for the September 2015 intake and onward.

I think this program is vital to these students staying in Prince George. This will ultimately affect our economy, we will be sending more of our young people to other cities and with them the money they would have spent locally while living here.
Graduate of 1983 Dental Assisting Program at CNC and still in the field! This was the cornerstone of my career and allowed me independance and fulfillment in a profession that helps others. It would truly be a shame to lose these valuable and sustainable programs.
northern bc will feel this cut, not only for the noted high quality graduates of these programs but those with low income that utlizize the clinic may comprimise overall health as they will not have the means to access private dental clinics.
northern dental offices already have difficulty staffing their offices. It is important that CNC offer programs that are in need in the work force. Students in the north should have opportunity for good education available in the north.
I work in the dental community and know the tremendous value this program has for our city and surrounding areas. There is a shortage of dental assistants across Canada and the closing of this program will be detrimental to our industry
This affects not only the students and CNC but our community and surrounding communities, please reconsider
It is disappointing to hear that the College Executive of New Caledonia would think that this suspesion is in the best interests of the college. These high profile and viable programs are a huge asset to the communities of Prince George region and have been recognized for quality programs in Dental Assisting and DentaL Hygiene, I hope there is reconsideration on this recommendation.

Programs such as this are criticial opportunities for providing care for those clients who might otherwise not seek dental/dental hygiene care. This is the only dental hygiene program outside of Vancouver and Vancovuer Island and it should stay.
