It is disappointing to hear that the College Executive of New Caledonia would think that this suspesion is in the best interests of the college. These high profile and viable programs are a huge asset to the communities of Prince George region and have been recognized for quality programs in Dental Assisting and DentaL Hygiene, I hope there is reconsideration on this recommendation.

As a former student of CNC I am sad to see that my former school is closing such a great program. So many bright students are depending on this program. Thank you

This isn't a trade, it is necessary. It is almost guaranteed to get training in this field and to cut this is so unfair! I believe in keeping the program!

This is a very important program and the province needs the skilled individuals this program provides.

To shut down such a large section of the school not only would leave a lot of professionals jobless it also would prevent said profession from developing further thus affecting the community greatly. I have heard nothing but amazing things about the dental program in Prince George and to destroy such a good reputation would be a huge disappointment.

I know a lot of people who have gone through this program and I know a lot of people hoping to go through this program in the future. It has a lot going for it and for the future of dental hygienists in BC we all need this program

Prince George needs this program to encourage students to study and potentially stay in the community. We have so few quality programs as it is. As a city, we cannot afford to close down a great drawing card--there will be long-term, financial repercussions.

It is extremely important that a program remain North of the province in order to keep qualified professionals in the area. If students are required to travel for their education, they will be less likely to return to Prince George and north to work. At VIU, we see students from our north Island area, who come for education and often look for work in Vancouver and Victoria instead of returning to the Comox Valley. This is beginning to affect dental offices as they look for qualified employees. If we want dental assisting to continue to grow as a profession, we need to keep accredited programs which add value to communities and graduate employment ready personnel. Otherwise, dental offices will be forced to hire untrained assistants which will undermine the profession.
