Final supporters
Health Services has already been cut in half and there is a possibliity of eliminating the Campus Nurse position during the next budget meeting. Currently the services are conveniently located on campus and free! If cut, then students will be expected to manage their illnesses and injuries on their own. Additional services lost will include:
- No one available to see students for health concerns and questions
- No longer have help making appointments and navigating the health care industry
- No longer have help with insurance issues
- No longer have access to confidential pregnancy testing plus STD/STI referrals
- Will lose health promotion information and events
- No one to help students with personal emergency plans
- The college will lose someone who teaches CPR, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Alcohol Awareness to students and staff
- The college will lose someone to manage student's Health Forms and Immunizations
- First Aid kits will no longer be refilled and available
- International students will lose valuable resource to support their health, manage TB tests, and international immunization records
- Parents will lose valuable contact for health concerns, resources, questions, etc.
- And so much more...

As a parent, I want to know that if my child is sick or has a health concern, that they will get the help they need without the additional stress of going off campus and/or not knowing where to go or what to do!
The campus nurse is a very important and nessisary role on campus. When visiting campus, one of the first questions we asked was whether there was an on campus nurse. To lose this position would take from both current students and from students considering the college in the future.
As an immune compromised student I rely on the nurse as part of the network at Simpson that helps keep me safe. Cutting this resource is detrimental not only to our safety and well being as a whole, it directly endangers disabled students and shows that the administration does not value the well being and safety of that population.
This decision, while cost effective immediately, would have long term affects on the quality of health of Simpson students. Displacing a key resource to students may have detrimental affects to the college as well. Don't cut our resources, cut your waste.
As college students, we have high levels of stress and live in groups of people. Both of these factors put us at a heightened risk for illness. As an aspiring health professional, I believe having a nurse of campus is absolutely essential to our Simpson Community and there would be many repercussions if this position was eliminated.
Ridiculous that a college campus wont have an onsite nurse, administrators should be ashamed of themselves

The campus nurse was hugely helpful to me when I had no where else to turn to. Although I came in tears and could barely speak, she helped me through and got me in the direction I needed. Simpson would be making a large mistake getting rid of her.
