Stop the brain drain: save NRW's library at Maes-y-Ffynnon

Libraries are a bastion against ignorance.

This is an amazing and important resource

Access to knowledge like this is so important to conservation efforts.

How can you require environmental conservation to be science and evidence-based if you deprive staff and others of access to past and present knowledge and experience?

Vital resource for so many people MUST be saved

As a young man working for the newly-formed JNCC in the early 90s, I had the privilege of helping the late great Peter Hope-Jones protect the CCW Library in Bangor, where he spent much of his last working years. I write now to support the petition in memory of that great (honorary) Welshman.

Libraries are central to civilization.

This needs to remain as a resource for all.

With the looming climate crisis, It is vitally important that this kind of facility is kept open to enable people to educate themselves.

I greatly valued this library when I worked for the Nature Conservancy Council based in Bangor; a librarian is a skilled job guiding one to relevant material.

It would be very unwise to close the library. We need these invaluable places to be open and resources available to people working in the field.

To browse a library is freedom. Keep NRW's library.

This library is an invaluable resource - especially of hard to get grey literature. It should be saved. And if this is not possible talks should occur with Bangor University and/or CEH to resite it ( ex PVC at Bangor and Head of Natural Sciences)

So much of our environmental work is coming under increased scrutiny and challenge. The need for this work and decisions made to be evidence based is more important than ever and this can't be achieved without collections like the NRW library to provide those resources.

NO to library closure!

This is such a short sighted decision. A source of reliable information is vital for NRW's staff and others.

To make our environment better we must understand it. For this we need access to the invaluable background studies stored here. It will aid us in statutory duties.

So upset. Please dont.

This isn't just a braindrain... it's a key strategy for regulatory capture. If there's no public intellectual basis to this environmental body then it can be pushed into full poodle mode behind elitist closed doors!
