Stop the brain drain: save NRW's library at Maes-y-Ffynnon

This vital national resource needs to be saved, especially in a time of global climate crisis.

“Disposal” of research material can never be an option.

We need more access to knowledge, not less. Closing a library like this is insanity.

This will be a devastating loss of information and research reports which will impact the quality of decision making. It seems inconceivable to lose it when we face climate change and biodiversity breakdown as never before

Yet another example of the Tory party’s war on culture & their drive to destroy anything that encourages reflection & critical thinking, especially if it’s in the public realm & not making money for them & their donors. Combining the cuts with the Brexit mantra, courtesy of one Michael Gove: ‘we’ve had enough of experts’, encapsulates the desperate need of the right wing to ‘dumb down’ the population, so that they will vote for the likes of Farage, Johnson, Trump, Orban, Milei, Le Pen, Meloni etc. Politicians who can then successfully peddle to the ignorant, their snake-oil ‘solutions’ to the complex problems of the modern world & make a fortune for themselves & their donors, usually at the expense of those who’ve voted for them.

Libraries like this are a national resource. Librarians are invaluable

Closing the NRW library would be an absolute travesty - the funding gap is a short term problem, don't let it have lasting consequences for environmental records (which are also historical records!) in Wales.

This is too valuable resource to commit to oblivion!

Closing the NRW library would be a disaster. We need to have the irreplaceable reports, surveys and other resources available for conservationists and researchers in the future. Destroying an important store of knowledge in this way is apalling. Please find a way to keep this library, and the librarian who works there.
