Stop the brain drain: save NRW's library at Maes-y-Ffynnon

Closing the NRW library is just the wrong thing to do. In my latest book I've described shifting baseline syndrome and the environmental impacts of losing access to information about the past. if there is anything I can do to help just let me know. We need to preserve the records of our ecological past, as it under pins the decisions we make going forward.

Libraries provide a physical resource in terms of reference documentation, staff assistance and meeting location for researchers and interested parties that can be supplemented by digital resources but not replaced by them. No library should be closed. In this particular case it is particularly true.

The closure of this library would be detrimental to the protection of wildlife in North Wales.

Knowledge is power!

I can't think of one possible reason for closing this library. We need resources like tis more than ever...just for survival!

I'm fortunate enough to know the library team at NRW, and I know that they are a fantastically knowledgeable, hard working, committed and innovative bunch who don't deserve to be treated like this. The library collection is a hugely valuable resource on the Welsh environment, and contains many unique and unpublished works. It is not only important to NRW staff, but also those in the wider Welsh public who care about our natural heritage. The library therefore provides a vital link between the authorities and the Welsh public. Having an organised collection maintained by professional library staff is important to supporting an organisation's access to and use of evidence to support decision making: I'm afraid that by trying to close the library, NRW's leadership are betraying a failure to understand evidence-informed policy and practice, and how to enable it.

Save the collection and offer parts to other organisations. Disposal is vandalism of precious knowledge
