This is a sad commentary on our town council and their lack of support for our youth. Their excuse will always be that their is a lack of $$$. My advice to them is to "prioritize." Find the money. Take care of the youth of our town and community. L. Altman, SSB resident

All 3 of my girls participated in activities at Huckabee field. It not only provides recreation but it provides a safe place to grow. It will be a very sad day if you close down this ball field. Stand up and do the right thing for the community.

Huckabee is an important place for the kids of the Surfside area to get their start in youth sports. It has been a very vital part of the community there for sometime now and is a place where some current professional athletes played their first organized baseball games.

Keep the ballfield for Surfside kids. It's the only thing they have to do that's sponsored by the town. We place allot of emphasis on Senior activities and clubs but we forget about our children and hassle them when they walk the streets of town.

As a child who grew up in the Town of Surfside Beach, I think about how my life would have been greatly altered by not being able to play softball all of those years. Taking away something so family oriented from a "family beach" is senseless and unfair for future generations.

My son has played surfside baseball for 6 years, has made countless and lasting friendships and has learned many life skills. My daughter played softball last year and fall ball, her first year and she loves it! It's a great program, with some great people.

Growing up playing youth baseball taught me a lot growing up helped me mature in big ways and socializing with other kids I would of never thought to talk to it just wouldn't be right to end this for the kids

Sports are important to the kids. We need this ballpark.
