Sunnidale dog park is scheduled to close for a year, unannounced. The process will begin July 2019 and the park will remain close until July 2020. As Barrie dog owners we are left with no alternate enclosed trail. The city has grown drastically. To be left with only one place to take your dog (Molson Dog Park) is unacceptable.
The City of Barrie has informed us that the only step that can be taken but may not make a difference is to fill out a suggestion on the City’s website. Let us show them that we can make a difference through power in numbers!

I have been hearing from so many of you who rely on this trail for your dogs daily exercise and mental health. The city officials have been quiet since I sent our initial request for a meeting but I am preparing a formal follow up to demand they explain why they think one small park can handle our entire community. We are not going to let them shut this space down without a real fight.

Seeing this kind of momentum feels like a weight lifting because it proves I am not the only one who relies on this space for my dog. This traction shows the city that we truly care about where our pets spend their days.

The south DOLRA is a huge open field with very little shade. In the peak of summer it is not the best place for dogs to play. The lack of shade is also an issue for me as I have reached an age where the heat affects me greatly. For these reasons I avoid the Bayview park for the most part. I live quite close to this park, however, I prefer the Sunnodale location because of the trees.
Has anyone from the city seen the beautiful vegetation and state of the park. This excuse of a rest for that area is factually incorrect and harmful to those of us with dogs who use this area daily.
A year is too long! We have been using the off leash park for over 10 years now and it’s such a beautiful trail. Give us a temporary replacement! There are not enough leash free areas in Barrie.
We got our pup back in January and this has become our weekly spot as a family. Every Sunday we get up early and go. It's our time together with our pup and us. We walk and talk and help teach our pup (8 month old Collie/Husky) how to behave with other dogs. Our family will be really sad when this happens.
I use this park often due to living in a condo and like a place for my dog to run free and exercise.
Dogs deserve a beach too
Please consider closing the park in stages.

I'm a dog walker and I take my dogs here frequently. My brother goes almost every day with his dog. This park is essential for dog owners especially in the summer. The city should wait until winter time at least.
