Regardless of how you feel about the Civil War, there were tens of thousands of Americans, black and white, North and South, who were willing to fight and die for their cause. The memory of those people who died in that war, like the people in every other war we have ever fought, should be memorialized, not swept under the rug.

I vividly remember staring at this statue in awe every time we passed it since I was a little girl. This statue is a part of our heritage and removing it would simply be wrong.

As a Rowan county citizen and descendant of a brave Confederate soldier I want to be able to show my children and later grandchildren that we remember those who fought for our freedom no matter the war! Keep Fame where she is!

I am a relative of a Confederate Soldier. I respectfully ask that you do not denigrate our history by removing the memorial to those who fought for our freedoms we hold so dear today. Thank You so very much.
