As a Stanton alum I was heartbroken to hear about the supposed changes to the band. They were one of my favorite parts about Friday night football games and we need to keep up with the HBCU history that this school is so rich in.

the Stanton band has always given excellent performances in the style Mr. Young directed it with, and this new director should be ashamed for putting his or her own artistic vision over the value of the students. I am also highly disgusted with the Stanton administration, that they would side with a brand new director seeking to devalue the band rather than support hundreds of its own students.

Culture and Tradition are important to any institution. The passion I see from the one alumnus I know makes this seem worthy of reconsidering.

As the current band captain of Paxon SASI'm so sorry that you're losing your band. Even though we are rivals I am more than happy to sign the petition because I believe that the opportunity to music and this form of expression is priceless. We also value the correlation of academic performance and musical participation. I hope you meet your goal!

I hope we can keep this tradition alive. It would be a shame to see our marching style changed.

The traditional style of marching should not be replaced out of whim or prejudice. It is a culturally significant part of not only Stanton's history, but that of our country. Furthermore, to replace this cultural style would place great economic strains upon the school for no reason.

As a Stanton alumni and former marching band member, I believe this band should remain as its original and traditional marching style. Stanton itself is enriched with history and the marching band is one of them. So please keep the band style the same.

Don't get rid of the band. You basically want the student's lives to be more miserable with all of the academics. Let them have some fun. Don't end up running the students away. Back in the days the band was life. Don't make school more bland...like it's already becoming to be.

While coming from a corps style background myself, traditions from each program are essential to keep, regardless of their different styles. You wouldn't hire a chemistry teacher to teach biology and have them want to teach chemistry instead.
