Stanton's Band and Mr. Young played a very important role in shaping my son into the man he is today. Both impacted many students' lives in numerous positive ways. Please, seriously consider student input before implementing changes and do not disregard tradition.
The traditional style of marching should not be replaced out of whim or prejudice. It is a culturally significant part of not only Stanton's history, but that of our country. Furthermore, to replace this cultural style would place great economic strains upon the school for no reason.
As a Stanton alumni and former marching band member, I believe this band should remain as its original and traditional marching style. Stanton itself is enriched with history and the marching band is one of them. So please keep the band style the same.
While coming from a corps style background myself, traditions from each program are essential to keep, regardless of their different styles. You wouldn't hire a chemistry teacher to teach biology and have them want to teach chemistry instead.
This change spits on everything Dr. MacFarlane and Mr. Young have built. The traditional style is what drove me to stay in this band, and it became an integral part of my life. 22 1/2 inch, 90° steps and playing music you can actually dance to is fun. Walking from side to side is not.

Over the past 10 years i have enjoyed listening to the band play and perform an HBCU style performance. Its the band that alot of people come to the football games to watch, definitely not the football team.
