The band should stay as it has for the past century. The student population in the band is mixed, just as the school is. I do not Appreciate my Grandson being talked to inappropriately, especially as He is not disrespectful. NON of the youth should be talked down to!

Whats going on here in Jacksonville? Leaders are being brought in from other states and don't care about what has been tradition in our schools. What worked up north does not work here in the south. Work with the parents and students to come up with a plan to move forward for the new school year. Coming in like a BULLY will not work.

I went to the "Meet and Greet" and specifically asked Mr. Damron, "Will there be any compromise". And I never received an answer. His inability to answer the question, leaves me to believe he has no intention of compromising and is moving forward with his corps marching style. This is unfair to the students and needs to be addressed prior to the start of the 2015-2016 school year.

Change and Compromise are two different things and the context the administration and others are using is bashing whats been good for 60+ year. All of these issues have not been brought until Mr.Young retired and now you expect us to change when the other party can't even compromise with BOTH PARTIES CONSENT.

The student body is what makes the band. They should be able to decide how they want it to be ran. Why force something that no one enjoys? Why destroy a tradition that contributed to the enhancement of the students' experiences at Stanton and took so much effort to create? This change, in my opinion, is absolutely unnecessary and would cost more money, time, and effort to create band that won't accomplish half as much as the original. Let the kids choose! It's there band!

The kids deserve a marching band. Music can have a profound impact on students and their community. Without the arts, there is no culture and nothing to live for.
