There is lots of wildlife in the open spaces which will be destroyed no matter what the builders say. Standish CANNOT take the excess traffic, it is bad enough now in 5 years time it would be total gridlock

Where will the children play, there is very little provision on the new estates. Designed playgrounds just breed trouble. Just leave us alone.

Builders' greed, government dismissal of the population and pomposity of councillors is leading to destruction of all of Standish's countryside. NO MORE HOUSES ARE NEEDED IN STANDISH.

spread the development over a wider area, Standish infrastructure and roads cannot support the many housing development sites within Standish. Why does it all have to be built in Standish, why do we have to lose so much open green space. The council stated 250 houses a year can be built and they've passed a lot more already and accepted plans for even more, it is a farce.

Standish is congested as it is during non peak times.
How will it cope with the population expansion?

Traffic in Standish is already awful, the main road has standing traffic for a large part of the day. Another 1000 houses poss. 2000 extra cars on local road. Grid lock & already chocked parking areas. Future looks Bleak!

I don't live in Standish but my daughter and grandchildren do ... it is for their sake and their future that I am signing this petition - stop destroying the environment and start preserving green and open spaces for the good of us all.

Don't do ti we don't want the world looking like Skem!
I come form Orrell originally and the new estate that was built on the old Moore Road has made the already traffic problems there worse and has a negative effect on the feel, culture and atmosphere of Orrell. A village that has been turned into a town without the infrastrucutre;well done Wigan Council a joke like your football team!

Traffic is horrendous now
Its not pleasant driving through standish at the best of times

Soon every inch of green will be gone

I moved to standish from euxton and originally from the fylde because of the areas to walk and the green spaces. Standish has a wonderful balance of new and old, but I feel the building of 1000 more houses would destroy the unique character of the location. In addition, travelling through Standish at commuter and school pick up/drop off times is a nightmare currently, I cannot begin to imagine the immediate chaos on the roads should there be another 1000 homes, which would inevitably mean 2 cars per houseshold, therefore 2000 additional cars.

There will be too many cars, people and too much congestion in Standish. The infrastructure will be unable to cope and a link road would be untenable. We cannot cope never mind if more houses are built. We do not need more houses in Standish.
