Three generations of my family have attended SCB. My mom, myself (Class of 1988), and now my children. I have spent my entire life in this parish. I have received my sacraments, been married, and buried family members in this parish. I have cried tears of joy as my children have received their sacraments in this parish. This parish is my home. This school is my childhood. This school is my past, and my present. It's so much a part of me that I feel like Sr. Maggi is my family. This hurts me, and this is not the way a loving, faith-filled, spiritual parish treats it's people. Sr. Maggi has devoted her life to God, then to SCB. She has been a good and faithful servant, and she is someone I admire very much. Sr. Maggi embodies our Parish Vision Statement because she "uses God's gifts to serve and teach others and be the face of Jesus Christ in the Community." I'm praying for this decision to be reversed. I sincerely hope that this parish can be my future, too.
Please don't assign a monetary value to Sr. Maggi--she is priceless.

Sister Maggi was such a huge influence in my life. She taught me lessons about faith, friendship, and academics that are still important. I think forcing such a positive and needed influence out of a position where she has such an impact is disgusting and sad.

Sr. Maggie has always pushed me to have a good behavior and do my best and school. I used to think all of the teachers at borromeo had it out for me, but now that I am in high school, I now truly see the good that has come of what Sr. Maggie and all of my other teachers have been doing for me and my classmates. I want Sr. Maggie to stay so that she may build a better path for incoming students as she has for me.

There's a lot to be said about this but I'll keep this as short as possible. If Sr. Maggi is truly being forced out, then not only is the administration neglecting our Christian values but will be depriving children of the expertise and influence she has. If it is simply over salary, then clearly someone neglected to allocate funds, despite knowing good and well what her income should be. Sr. Maggi has certainlu earned her wages and deserves her position. This isn't something I can say for all teachers that I have had and Borromeo needs to recognize what a treasure she is.

My niece has only nice things to say about Sister Maggi in all her years at SCB. Being a Catholic school, it's indeed an advantage to have a nun on staff especially someone who did a lot for the school ...

Perhaps every parishioner should place a note instead of their check in the collection basket that says: "TITHING WILL RESUME WHEN SR. MAGGI IS RE-INSTATED!" United, we stand... Ask one of her grade school students to calculate how little time it would take before lost donation money could have paid for her yearly salary!

Sr. Maggi got me interested in math because she spent her summers teaching us pre-algebra. I remember every year at the last Mass of the school year, she would send us off with her voice and guitar, her Irish Blessing. She inspired me, and now I'm a middle school and high school music teacher.
If Sr. Maggi still wants to teach at Borromeo, she should be allowed. No question.

I joined St. Charles Borromeo parish 28 years ago and was thrilled to have my children in a loving and caring school. Now my grandchildren attend this same school. Msgr. Owens was pastor, Sister Barbara was the principal and Sister Maggi was a math and homeroom teacher. I have seen many changes over the years, but Sister Maggi has remained the constant and it’s comforting to know she is there with that same love and care from years ago. It is insulting that the contract of a wonderful teacher of 30 years is not renewed, but the fact that she is the only nun we have in our school makes this action unforgiving. Msgr. Owens must be turning over in his grave!

If the pastoral leadership of the school wishes to make unilateral decisions to remove someone so critical, so beloved, and the only sister at SCB, then my husband and I must reconsider our attendance at this school and Parish. This is simply not an acceptable decision.

I would like to think that we as Catholics are the light in the darkness. We should set the example. Is dismissing a teacher let alone a nun who has dedicated her life to teaching and helping kids. If we are called to help the least among us, this is what she lived every day. Don't we owe her more? Sister Maggie know that all of the parents are thankfully and stand behind you for all that done for the school and the kids. I fear that if we continue in the same manner in focusing on the bottom line it will be to the detrement odour kids and our school.
